The Way teacher
I am John Quinn teacher at The Way, known spiritually as Two Johns. I have been working as a spiritual teacher, medium and healer for over 20 years. During this time I have taken part in and taught many spiritual development circles and have practiced spiritual healing on a multitude of different illnesses and injuries. Over this time I have also been asked for guidance, and at times counselling, which I do using my spiritual connection. As a spiritual teacher I am an open book, if you have any other questions then please do not hesitate to ask me. You should feel whether to approach me or not, as always it is your choice and responsibility to do what you feel is right, ergo doing nothing is also a choice.
Finding the right teacher, or if you prefer, guide, is probably one of the most important decisions of your life, but most people don’t understand this. A teachers role will be to teach you truthfully - be aware that your friends won’t always tell you the truth. Sometimes this will be to save your feelings, but most of the time it will be to save theirs.
Your teacher must always tell you the truth so that you can adjust your balance with knowledge - not ignorance. In order for you to learn effectively from your teacher, both you and your teacher must be strong, truthful and balanced. Also, you must trust each other enough to work together.
You should observe any proposed teacher very carefully to see if they actually do as they teach. As far as accepting The Way teachers into your life you should listen to what we say, watch what we do, and feel if it’s right for you. Do the teachers trust people to the required level? Do they tell the truth? Are they balanced in most things?
If we do anything you would consider wrong or you disagree with, tell us, then listen and judge our response. It is never our intention to upset or hurt anyone's feelings, but when you speak the truth with balance and love, it is not always well received. We love, trust and respect everyone as equals - after all, we are all spirits. Do not judge others before you judge yourself, and never judge anyone or anything in anger.
In looking at your teachers (or anyone else who claims to offer guidance and wisdom) you need to consider whether the teacher is still open to learning themselves. There are many teachers who do not believe or live what they teach. Listen to what these people say, and watch what they do. If they are not doing what they say for you to do, are they the right teacher for you?
When a teacher stops learning then they stop being a real teacher, and it is entirely possible for the student to become the teacher.
We are all teachers to some people while at the same time being students to others. Humility and respect are necessary and desirable qualities of both students and teachers.
If you feel you cannot challenge your teacher with balance and truth, without fear of an emotional scene, then your teacher has a problem. This is either a case of your teacher needing to help you express yourself openly, or, your teacher is not open or balanced. If at such times you feel you would like to help your teacher but are pushed away, then maybe your teacher is not the person you thought they were, or, they are not ready to accept your help at that time.
